A message concerning water guns...

Posted on
As we near the end of the school year and warmer weather has arrived, we wanted to take a moment to remind students and families about our school policy on water guns and water fights at school.

Please take a moment to remind your child that water guns are not permitted at Chestermere Lake Middle School, both inside the school and outside on school property. Bringing water guns to school is problematic in a number of ways, as some water guns can look quite realistic, and water on floors is a slipping hazard. We also recognize that water gun games, such as "Senior Assassin," can cause significant disruption to the school community.

While we understand that water activities are fun for students, it is important that we maintain an environment that is safe and respectful of all community members. Therefore, students participating in non-sanctioned water fights will face fair, predictable and meaningful school-based consequences. Students who choose to bring and/or use water guns at school will have their water guns confiscated, which may only be collected by a parent or guardian at the office.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe for all.

Principal of Chestermere Lake Middle School
